Is it possible to connect to a DB2 database server in WSAD without having the DB2 client on my machine?

I just want to connect to a database thru my jdbc driver. Is it possible? If not, does anyone know if you can get a linux copy of the client for free?

thanks,
matt

DB2 does have a NET (type-4) driver that does not require DB2 Connect, yes. I'm not sure if there's a free Linux version or not. See more information on the DB2 drivers here: http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/db2help/index.jsp?topic=/com.ibm.db2.udb.doc/ad/c0007120.htm

Hello Kyle,

I am also having similar problem. I have to connect to DB2 database which is on remote machine and i dont have db2 client. I have downloaded Type 4 Third Party Driver , but my problem is that when i create JDBC Provider in WSAD, what JDBC- Provider Type should i choose??

Because when i choose "DB2 JDBC Provider" or something else i dont get any "JDBC Provider" displayed while creating Data Source.

Plz Help

Thanks

Update:

From a link off of the link Kyle provided from IBM, I read that the DB2 Net (Type4) driver only works with DB2 version 8.

So because we use v7.2, I guess I will need to install the client....curses!

Thanks for the assist Kyle!
