I’ve passed the 829 exam today, the exam seems to be not that difficult, or maybe I over-prepared I was expecting tougher questions...

Maybe because my story is a bit long, I did prepare for 819 certificate, read the OCP Java 11 Complete Guide, and the practice tests, done all Enthuware mock tests for 819. Then,,, my imposter syndrome kicked in, and I changed my mind to go for the 829 certificate instead, so I read the OCP Java 17 Complete Guide - I skimmed the repeated content - and done all Enthuware mock tests for 829.

What I experienced today is:
1. The vast majority of the questions did not have "does not compile" as an option, which indeed decreased the level of difficulty, or as Jeanne & Scott in the Java Guide book call them, a gift.
2. Most of questions looks familiar and easy to grasp if you take Enthuware mock exams, it seems they are the same the group of people who creates the exam question list? Only couple questions had a different style and format.

Overall, It was a relaxed experience, had about 25mins to review my answers, and scored 95%, Yeey!

I would encourage whoever is in preparing process, to be more confident.

Congrats! I passed after only a week of studying and practicing with Enthuware's mock exams. My score was 70% but would have been higher if I studied more (I have 10+ years of real-world Java experience). I think the exam was challenging but do-able.

Congrats, nice post. I'm learning and intending to get the Java 17 cert also.

Could you please let me know how much time did you learn and prepare before taking the exam? And during taking the dump exams in enthuware.com, how many percent (or score) did you get at the last time to make you more confident for deciding to take the real exam? Did you just prepare exam with dump exams in ethuware and the book of Scott & Jeanne?

I know there are too many questions but I really need these infos to collect and prepare for taking the exam within this year. I have failed once in OCP 11 in the April last year (lost 25$ and got 52% score), hence I need to reduce the learning path and take the cert perfectly.

Thank you so much.

Hi Hao,

Regarding time, I think it's not something that you can take into consideration by known another person's experience, so don't count on anyone's answer about that. Only you knows that it's the right time & you are ready.

Everyone's experience is diffrent. For me, I did actually read both OCP 11 and OCP 17 by Jeanne & Scott, the complete guide + the practise tests + Enthuware mock tests. So it took me about 4-5 months. Known that I've fulltime job as a Javascript developer and was reading only after work. Also, I'm not new to Java, but it's not my main language that I work with currently. So maybe all of these are aspects that can influence the overall period of preperation.

I believe I could say I was scoring about ~75% in average in Enthuware.

Wish you luck! You can do it.

Hi!
Congratulations, it's a really excellent score!
Did you take the exame through Person VUE or through the newer oracle exam attempt?
Thanks for share your experience, I will take the exam in the next week, it's a really good feedback about the exam.
I'm studying with the same book and the same mock tests (Enthuware).
