I presume you ae looking at mistakes which make it past the compiler stage.

Yes, One of the assumptions in the book that is clearly in chapter 1 (introduction) is that we assume that the code quality and overall software craftsmanship are "good enough," so there are no obvious bugs.

I think that's fair.

The programming book market is swamped with introductory books, and so an y book which takes on some more advanced or nuanced topics is very welcome!
