I'm just starting to learn about Java Server Faces (JSF). If I understand it right though, it's a framework, similar to Struts. It's compatible with J2EE 1.3 so WAS 5.0 and 5.1 support it. What's more relevant is whether WebSphere Studio gives you development support for JSF. With version 5.1.2, I believe it does. You can check out tutorial videos that Bill Hahn has put together on the subject. ftp://service2.boulder.ibm.com/QRef/WSStudio-V5.1.1-JSF-TechDemos-Handbook-by-Bill-Hahn.pdf

I have deployed a sample JSF application which is working on TOMCAT 5.0 but not on WAS 5.0. So I thought WAS 5.0 doesn't support JSF ...
Well, I haven't actually deployed a JSF on WAS 5.0. I mostly work with 5.1. You should probably focus on why the application isn't working. Are you missing a class? It could be that WAS can't find the JSF classes. If it's one of the java or javax packages causing the problem, then you may be right about it being a lack of WAS support.
