Priya,

Look under WAS_HOME\AppServer\bin\wsinstance
You will find a executables for creating websphere instances.

You can use those to create multiple websphere instances.
This is ONE way.

Ofcourse, if all u want is different Servers, you can always, go the the admin console and create new servers. That was is easy to do.

In WAS 5/5.1.x it is possible to create new server instance using admin console. Go to Admin console/ servers and click "New" where you may need to enter the required to create a server instance. Not much into 6.0 but should be the same.

You need a WebSphere Network Deployment version to be able to create multiple servers

Priya,
As you have said you are using WAS 6.0, why not use different profile configurations. You can view profiles in WAS 6.0 as enhanced version of wsinstance.
Note : WAS 6.0 doesnt come wsinstance

For more info visit , http://websphere.sys-con.com/read/48342.htm

Priya,

WAS 5 ND is installed as a separate application on top of WAS 5 Base. In WAS 6 too, it should be the same way.

Cheers
