Hi All,

I did this samll exercise. I had written a small code in java to put messages in the queue. The code had a loop which would insert messages repeatedly onto the queue. I found that some messages were properly put on the queue but, it gave a SocketException afterwards and no further messages were put onto the queue.

So, i want to know, is there some MAX limit for the queue which allows only a fixed maximum number of messages to be put on the queue? OR is it a MAX Size limitation for the messages that can be put on the queue?

Please help.

Thanks,
Dharmesh

I don't know either for sure (dont have an admin console open) although I'd suspect the maximum size of the messages on the queue is in some way related to the backend storage mechanism. In the case of WebSphere, the data is stored in an internal Cloudscape db by default, so I'd review the parameters of this database resource.

When I create a new queue on WebSphere MQ, the default max number of messages is 5000. I can increase that via the WebSphere MQ Console to 999999999. I'm on WebSphere MQ 5.3 so I guess it'll be the same for you.
