Hello,

I hope someone here can help me. I can't register for the Java SE 17 exam. Even if I did find it on the Oracle website, when I clicked the buy exam, it just redirected me to 4 available exams (most or cloud-based exams) and it didn't really get me to the actual Java SE 17 exam. Can someone let me know if the Java exam has been removed or has been moved somewhere else or temporarily withdrawn? Pearson VUE doesn't have the exam as well since Oracle will be having their own learning and certification platform.

I've read the thread as well and followed the steps. It still doesn't give me the correct link / steps to register for the exam.

You need to buy through MyLearn at oracle.com.
I assume you have created a free SSO login at oracle.com
Then use this link:
https://mylearn.oracle.com/ou/search/1z0-829

Hello, thank you for getting in touch.

Yes, I've already created and successfully logged in to the MyLearn Oracle site.
Unfortunately, when I clicked on the Java 17 exam, it redirected me to this link:

https://mylearn.oracle.com/ou/exam/java-se-17-developer-1z0-829/105037/110649/170355
(screenshot 1)

and then when I clicked on either of the buy exam buttons from the top or bottom of the page, it redirected me to this page:

https://education.oracle.com/buy-exam which contains only 4 exams:

Oh, I see, I didn't notice that. I thought it would be for a cloud-related exam. But if I purchased this one, how will I know if the exam I'm going to take is for Java SE 17?

Anyway very appreciated your very quick response.

You will be able to specify the exam later.

Also, note you buy something I would call a "subscription which contains 1 exam attempt" - Oracle Technology Exam Subscription

Then you use a tool named Exam Attempts Administration Tool https://mylearn.oracle.com/ords/r/c/ecd/home to assign that attempt to someone. Apparently, you will assign that exam (still unnamed) attempt to yourself, i.e. will provide your email as test taker.

Then you will receive email with the invitation to register for a particular exam:

Dear YOUR_SECOND_EMAIL_HERE,

You have been assigned an Oracle Exam Attempt by your employer’s administrator YOUR_FIRST_EMAIL_HERE, that you can use to register and take an Oracle Exam.

Details:
Credit Type : All Exams
Order Number : XXX
Expiry Date : YYY
Number of Attempts Assigned : 1

Login to MyLearn with your email to activate your Exam Attempt. If you do not have an account you will be prompted to create one.

To check the Expiration Date of your Exam Attempt in MyLearn, go to My Account -> My Exam -> My Exam Purchases.

Thank you,
Oracle University on behalf of your administrator

Only now you schedule the Java 17 exam on the day you want, and basically, you are all set.

You will receive confirmation email with subject "Registration Confirmation: Java SE 17 Developer (1Z0-829)"

Make sure you install the protected web browser (it all will be mentioned on the website), test the connection, and try a mock test that tests your hardware/software.

P.S. FIRST_EMAIL and SECOND_EMAIL can be the same, I just explicitly name them to show that a person who pays for exam and a person who takes an exam can be different persons.
Since you buy exam and take it -- use the same email.

Thank you so much for all of this information. Before I purchase the exam, kindly confirm if my understanding is correct.

It looks like I won't be able to take the exam anymore in any of the test centers. Unlike the Pearson VUE, from which I was able to select a test center. Now it will be a proctored exam and I need to take it on my computer/laptop instead.

Your assumption is correct: you need a laptop with a web camera, fast reliable internet, and a room which can be closed.

https://www.oracle.com/in/education/training/buy/
On this page, select "Oracle Technology Exam Subscription",  "One single-use exam for a technology or OCI certification." option. The same voucher works for all OCA and OCP Java certification exams.
