Mycelium is the vegetative part of a fungus, consisting of a network of fine white filaments. In other words, mycelium is something that grows in nature. It can also be grown in large quantities on different substrates, and one of these substrates is straw. And then it can be made into insulation for buildings. Natural, renewable, and resisting fire much longer than any industrial product. What a great idea!
