Hello friends,

I am a new to Websphere. Also please anyone suggest how to get started with deployment, configuring xml files articles. Appart from Recommended reading from IBM -- it is good for advanced users but i want to start from basics.

I have created DefaultEAR for my application and copied at following location:

C:\Program Files\IBM\WebSphere\AppServer1\sysApps.

However, I am not able to access my application. When I was checking "how to publish applicaiton" Help menu, it says:

WebSphere server. You can also test on and publish to one or more separately installed versions of WebSphere Application Server that reside either locally or on a remote machine. You must install Agent Controller on the same machine that WebSphere Application server resides on.

Do I really need Agent controller and why I need it?

Thanks,

Greenhorn

Hello!

I am really new to this (ive created and admined one webapp ontop of was 5.1, but new to remote thingys), but just happened to search the same thing today myself. From my experience you don't necessarily need agent controller.

Agent controller is a tool that allows you to control a remote server so you can load a new ear file and test it remotely. And what ive heard, even that can be a bit tricky.

You can use the was admin console to deploy your application (as a WAR or EAR). It should be found from http://localhost:9090/admin

Good luck!
