Hey people!

I passed the exam this morning with a score of 84% on the first attempt. Man, what a journey.

I scheduled the exam early in the morning to guarantee some peace and calm, my bulding has some problems with the occasional drilling/hammering during normal hours, so better safe than sorry, right? I got really, really anxious the night before and because of that I didn't catch any shuteye at all. That kinda sucked, because it meant my mind wasn't fresh during the exam, so I definitely slipped on some parts. All I had was a ritalin tablet and a dream .

I gotta say, the exam experience was mostly what I read online. I wasn't asked for 2 forms of identification, just primary id (Thank god, because I simply do not have anything else with a photo except for id). Also there wasn't an environment tour like I read on some other threads. I just wish there was a way to cross out wrong questions and maybe a way to increase the whiteboard size (Or maybe I just couldn't find it because I was nervous?).

Anyway, what I used to prepare was pretty much the standard stuff:

  • OCP Oracle Certified Professional Java SE 17 Developer Study Guide, by Scott and Jeanne.
  • Enthuware Mock Exams (There's just so much valuable stuff to be learnt from the explanations when you get a question wrong, and when you get them right too! I just happened to get some questions correct by pure coincidence.)

  • I went through all the mock exams I could get my hands on, and made notes on all questions I got wrong, and why I got them wrong in the first place and wrote some code to validate it.

I got into this ride thinking it'd take like a month of study using the guide, like some testimonies I've read, but it just wasn't feasible for me. Took me 4 months of studying and procrastinating, but it was a fun journey. I'm setting my eyes on getting a Spring Certification now, but first, some sleep... I'm wrecked!
