According to FAQ there should be a RSS icon on each forum page.

Feeds for individual forums, individual topics, and for the most recent topics are available. Look for the little RSS icon next to the page title:

but honestly no matter how much I look I can't find it.
may someone send a screenshot on where it's located 😅? maybe it's an issue with my browser

I think we turned that off about ten years ago.

Looks like we forgot to update the FAQ, so thanks for pointing that out.

I updated it. Better late than never, so it's said.

I have a vague memory that rss was consuming a massive amount of resources.  The cost was too high.

You offering to pony up big monies?

Yeah, I asked about it a while back myself and I think that was the reason given.

I don't feel the need, though, Our new-posting rate per day is low enough that a periodic check-in seems to work OK and we notify people who follow threads.

In fact, although we're supposed to only send 1 notice, for some time, I've seen indications that every response to a followed thread notifies me, even if I haven't been back to catch up.

What about caching RSS feeds server-side (or at the edge, if you use a CDN such as Cloudflare)? Would that still be too resource intensive?

I follow a lot of RSS feeds myself, but I haven't added a new feed to my list for years. My impression is that RSS is an obsolete technology, or at least one that isn't top of mind for most people now. Given that, for us to expend resources to support it wouldn't make much sense.

I check RSS daily. Especially in Summer when NOAA published hurricane satellite and storm info (or at least up until now   )

I think Feedly came pre-installed on my new phone.

As I said a while back, Ranch traffic doesn't warrant RSS for my usage patterns, though YMMV.

So do I. But I'm older than the Anthropocene and I just don't get the impression that organizations are using RSS to communicate any more.

Adafruit sends product info to my RSS collector regularly. It's better than cluttering my inbox.  I also get my 3x-a-week cartoon fixes and foreign headlines. Laughing Squid for cultural improvement, Hackaday for geek heads-up, New Scientist for the latest in science, MIT Technology Review, which publishes so rarely I'd forget to check on a reguiar basis. Headlines from around the state. Used to be more cooking and garden info, but sources there have largely dried up. And investment tips from a place that isn't run by clowns.

The best thing is that stuff ages out. Once reviewed or after 48 hours, it fades into the history and leaves me with what's of immediate interest (or I bookmark it for long term use). If I got sent emails on each of these topics, my inbox would explode/I'd spend hours cleaning it and if I routed it to an alternate source like I do ads, I'd never bother to check. RSS is to me rather like an old-time clipping service. I can't spend the time to read each of these publications in detail or even sort out the interesting articles, but if they're kind enough to feed them to me, it's most convenient.
