This time this post is for real. Not just to get activity here.
I am going to brave the new world and install 9ias with Forms server and reports server onto a single processor Win 2000 machine. I just printed a step by step guide to install for 9ias.
Are there any main gotchas that happens when installing?
The Oracle 9i server is on another machine, does the Win200 machine need to use the Oracle Client as it's connection, or does the server software use it's on method?
Are you guys gonna be here to help me through this? I will need all the help I can get.
Thanks
Mark

I believe there are several issues with windows2k.It varies with different versions of 9ias though.
Here is the first one(from Oracle):
You have started the installation of Oracle 9iAS (Internet Application Server).
When prompted, you select to install either the 'HTTP Server only',
'Standard Edition' or 'Enterprise Edition'. After a few minutes of the
installation, Oracle Universial Installer (OUI) suddenly terminates.
No error message or warning are given by the OUI.

Solution Description
--------------------
Reboot the machine, and the iAS installation will continue.

Explanation
-----------
The installation of Oracle 9i requires a reboot after a few minutes
after the installation was started. If you check your 'Startup' folder
in Windows NT after Oracle Universial Installer terminates, you will see that
OUI has created a shortcut that will continue the installation after a reboot.

Happy installation

I am tying to install and configure the Oracle iCache for the server, and it cannot connect to the database. However, if I try connecting to the database in SQL Plus it connects fine.
Our Oracle database resides on a seperate box than the App Server.
Oh I must also say that when I began the 9ias install there was no Oracle products installed on the 2000 machine. No client, no OEM, and no Database. The database was on an HP-UX box.
Thanks
Mark
