I agree I was not ready to take the exam, but I am left with no choice, either don't take exam at all or give ur best try in the best part.

I was in the same situation but I did not feel any frustration. Yes, I would have liked to have more days to study but this happened any time I took an exam, beta or not.

I also didnt knew there are exams on this earth which go on for 51/2hrs without a break. The authors of SCJP (though beta) professional certification exam did not think of a simple logic that 99% folks cant stay that long with the exam. I wonder how this idea got approved

I'm assuming you did not try to take the beta for 70-300 (The Architecture exam for MCSD.NET). That one was longer and with more boring questions.

Hello,

The percentage score will be on the hard copy score report which is being mailed out to your address on file. You should receive it by 5/16/2005.

All,

Got my score sheet for the beta exam today If anyone is wondering, the passing score is 59% out of 72 questions. I got 65 correct out of 72 questions that were scored for me.

I was half-expecting to see the correct/incorrect/updated/dropped break- down of all 166 questions. I assume they have scaled the correct/incorrect answers from the questions weren't dropped from the beta (At least I hope they didn't just randomly select any 72 out of 166) I probably didn't do as well with the last 60 questions in the beta. After 3.5 hours answering the first 106 questions, I was hungry, tired, and dying for a smoke So I spend another 30 minutes to quickly scan the last 60 questions and select the first reasonable answer I spotted. I feel I could do much better with the standard exam by double checking my answers, etc. But I certainly enjoyed the beta experience It was a test of endurance as well as Java.

Good luck to everybody else waiting for their results.

Thus, passing score with 59% is really quite low. The passing rate should be 70%.

Otherwise, people might mis-think the test is too easy.

Ok, got my Prometric letter today, I got 53 out of 72 questions right, which is 73%.

I am pretty happy with the result. Given the fact that I had zero previous experience with 5.0 and only 5 days of preparation (I did not delay from the original scheduled deadline either) it is pretty much what I expected.

I prepared myself with the 1.4 certification book by Philip Heller and the available documentation from Sun.

During the preparation I learned to love Tiger's new features, so it was worth the 5 1/2 hours torture :-)

I received my score report today.
And I would like to say that I am very happy to have been certified.

Reason why I am happy is the following:

When I was at school, if I want to pass and go to the next upper class, I need ed to fill in those criteria:
  • Have a passing score of 59% (that's the same as for the Sun Certification)
  • Have at least 50% in each section (that's not the same as for the Sun Certification)

  • So, if it was a real exam, I would failed.
    But here, I success, with 50/72 ==> 69%

The section where I failed (I mean less than 50%) is the Concurrency. And I completely agree with Sun.

But I would like to say that, even if now I am a certified programmer, Sun would add the second criteria I mentionned. Have at least 50% for each section.

    Just my 2 cents.

84% is a very great score for beta exam because of limited study time and no dedicated resource!!!

    Well done!!!

I am still waiting for my report.

Well I found out that one of my co-workers who had "Passed" on the Prometric Website the other week, just got the score and it was a failure.

You know it is kind of a bummer that they would do something like this, because this person was so happy and even had a celebratory dinner, and their kids were all excited, then find out later that you fail. That is just plain wrong.

Dont worried. The certificate kit is sent seperately with the score report, and there is no agreement on which item will be arrived first.

If you get the kit, you are sure that you have passed the exam.

Be patient to wait for the score report.

    How's his score?

If his score is closed to the passing rate, he might try to appeal for that.

    Hello,

I took the SCJP 5.0 beta in Belgium and I have received no score report until now.

But I received today an email asking me to confirm my name / address in case they have some certificate to send me.

I used the registration number found in the mail to connect to http://www.certmanager.net/sun_assignment/tinfo.idc
and I found that my results are 58.

Is someone able to tell me if it is my real score, or a fake assigned to all that failed ?

    Marc.

Did you check I7 database before? The result in I7 database is regarded as final, and if there said you were failed, then you were failed.

The link you shown is another database, which stores the score. If it indicates that you scored 58 (which is failed), then sorry that you are failed.

    Hi Nick,

So my score is really 58, 1 point behind the good score.

Can you explain what you thinked about when you replied to Mark Spritzler on the 3 May :

    How's his score?

If his score is closed to the passing rate, he might try to appeal for that.

    Nick

Considering I took the test 11/02 and not beneficied from the extended study period, being unaware of it the day I took the test, is it a way to do something ?

    Thank you.

    Marc.

You might try to appeal because you just need 1 more question correct. Send an email to SunBert@Prometric.com to see what you can do.

As I said in other posts, I dont think this is a good argument because if you dont think you are ready for the exam, you can simply cancel the exam, and not try to take the test and wish that you can pass by luck.
