Hello Eisa,
I hope everyone is fine.

Well, certainly not, the group has not been closed at all.
But we are unable to figure out what's up with the members,
everyone is silent, looks like no one is encountering any
difficulty in their SCJP preparation, if that's the case then
really good luck and have fun.

Warmly,
Ben

hi all,
i'm also preparing for SCJP 1.5 and will like to join this group.its been more than 2 months i'm studying. Kathy book is over but still there are questions which will stump you.So My advice is to get accustomed to tricks and always look for traps in a question.
rest all is hardwork..

Hello,
I need some clarification along with an example for the following:
Final reference variable means that the initial object reference cannot be replaced by another object reference - not that the object cannot be modified.

Hi Guys,
I hope everyone is fine.
I was quiet for a couple of days, because the enthusiam
by which i started the Group, members have not proven upto
their expectations. I mean i don't see much active group
participation .. feels like no one is really coming up with
problems.

Then i came across Sudha posts and felt really happy that somone
is really willing to ask questions and seek help. Well Welcome
Sudha, and i hope we can rock together, because i feel like
if a lot of people are preparing then a sense of Competition
and Sense of Liveliness will be there in preparation. Lets
start off guys, High time..looking forward now atleast for a
active collobration from New members.

Warmly,
Ben

hi wellcome. if you have a basic understanding of encapuslation, inheritance, interfaces, arraylist then definitely you can read the book if not then i urge you to to buy head first java.

i have good understanding of the language but good lord have mercy Halleluyah, kathy sierra book made me wrong and i am still suffering

Hey Pals..
Great to hear some response from you all. Well i was about
to comment the same Dilraj, seems like Sudha is already interested
in asking the Questions, but now as we have got a group of
some certain interested indivisuals, now lets start rock out.
Well, my first suggestion is this, lets decide the Topic of the
Week, where we all have to begin. Lets alot 1 week to K&B first
chapter, but as i mentioned and emphasized earlier that we should
not only emphasize in clearing SCJP, but we should have good OOP
concepts as well, where i suggested that we should allot weekly
assigments and share the solutions with each other to see what is
the best coding practise.

See guys, i have heard that SCJP is more related to code-intensive
knowledge and concepts. So i think so practising a few assignments
won't be a bad idea at all. So lets begin with K&B Chapter 1 and
i am gonna post the topic at our group as well, all related questions
and assingments even, please guys lets start getting up and coming
up with questions, sharing your knowledge and stuff.

Well, Zia, i will suggest, don't make things in a hasty way, better
to appear once and have a good preparation, so i will really suggest
that you try to appear for SCJP in end of June and as mostly all new
people are either appearing in end of June or Start of July. Any
suggestions are welcome and i will love to hear your feed back.

So,

Topic of Week
--------------
K&B Chapter 1

General Topic of Discussion
---------------------------
Simple Classes, Interfaces and Inheritance -- To some extent Polymorphism.

Assignment of the Week
------------------------
Related to Classes, Interfaces, Inheritance( we will catch up at 5th Day)

Please suggestions are welcome.
Regards,
Ben

Hi Suleman,
You are correct, but that's why i am emphasizing, not only going
through K&B book but with it emphasizing on coding and other concepts
as well. As the chapters of K&B are related i am gonna divide in
terms of difficulty level and lets say K&B first chapter is related
to classes and interfaces, so that's why i suggested, we guys can
study General concepts of Classes & Interfaces, why interfaces are
better, why interfaces, why not inheritances and such kind of stuff
and then we will code an assignment of week and gradually even those
people who are novices won't find it much difficult to cope up. Go
ahead with the suggestions if people have.

Warmly,
Ben

Hi Zia,
Well i happen to be Java Developer myself, and recently graduated
also and working as a Oracle Portal and Java Developer currently.
But coding and having strong foundation concepts are differnet things.
Sometimes we are very good coders, but lack in general basic concepts
so thats why we all have gathered to study for SCJP.

Well, true Zia, i also planned to give it in end of May, but i really
don't want to rush up, the basic Objective is to get the certification
but to have good concepts of Java Language, just not to skimm the surface
as the new topics which are introduced in tiger, as Generics, other
data structures and stuff, take a bit of time to get used too. That's
why i suggested try to get the voucher for end of June but it really
depends, how well you prepare.

Good Luck,
Ben

wow great benz. i bought the voucher and it is valid for one year. like you suggested earlier it depends on how your preparation goes and definitely if i am ready i will take it if not then i will wait until i am ready. atlast i spent $200 for the exam voucher and its really hard for a student to pay that kind of money at once.

Java developer and oracle portal. actually i am studing oracle 10g these days. i have divided my time in studying kathy book and my oracle book. one should always have a good knowledge of RDBMS also.

congrats that you are working and i am not. always worried that gosh what if i get hired in a company and they want me to do this what if i cannot do it? like have no experience in java on client/server model, rmi, or jsp, servlets. so kinda scared but Lets see what happens. i like challenges.

Benz great work on getting this group all together and i wish to everyone who joins that group to pass their scjp

Hi.
Well Zia, truly i can understand that spending 200$ amount is
a great deal for a Student, and yes the Voucher is valid for
1 year almost.

Well, yes databases concept is pretty easy. Well, in Job yes that's
true Certification is a big added plus. But truly telling you my
experience, to have the knowledge of everything in Job is not necessary.
Professional Problems and Undergraduate problems have got a lot of
difference. Professional world is like a Ocean where you are thrown
heheh and eventually you learn to swim yourself.

Well yes, whenever you feel necessary and feel comfortable to appear,
you can surely do so. In my case, i am planning end of June. I had
to start in Mid of April the preparation, but because of Job had to
delay till now, but now all brushed up and eased up. Anyways good
luck for ya preparation. I have posted the topic of week in the Group
and we will love to help you as much we can.

Good Luck,

Warmly,
Ben
