The chimp grabbed the banana with glee, and ate hungrily. He belched agonizingly as the last shreds fell into his excited mouth. Fighting off his suppressed love for Chimpette, he screamed loudly and threw his bleeding nipples into the air. "Why, why, oh why are there no more f***ing bananas?", he roared at himself. Then he banged his head repeatedly against the wall until he fell over - and died.

I thought "Jini" is an acronym, but no. It's a rare example of an anti-acronym: "Jini Is Not Initials". Must be a really meaningless technology

Worst thing that can ever happen in software development world apparently happened to Sun - they run out of acronyms.
But their escape path should be supported and encouraged. So I propose XNL - "XNL is Not a Language"

Well, DOM is a very respectable acronym also, especially for us, moderators of XML-related fora

OK, this is a trial. I'm going to start signing my posts 'DOM', rather than 'Dave'.
I've always used 'Dave', but I've been bitter since Dave Vick got the 'dave@javaranch' address and I had to settle for 'davo@javaranch'. Oh well, the quick and the not-so-quick, eh?
DOM.

JC will not work very well. Acronyms have to consist of three letters. Like Map, SAX, or DOM. Two is not enough, it makes us think that acronymized concept isn't sophisticated enough. Four letters are too many, like in Jini, JAXP etc. You look at four-letter acronym and suspect that the underlying concept is unnecessary complicated.
Johnson, what is your middle name anyway?

Since I'm not using it, did you want to borrow my middle name?
JAC?
Hmm, or even JXC, short for 'person who has an interesting middle name'.
(Both registered Mar 2001.
Am I talking to myself?
How can you tell?)

My middle name? Maybe Map, JAC, CJC, NJC, i don't know. By the way, thanks DOM, I would humbly like to borrow your middle name JAC. Anyway, how come there's O in your middle name and it become A in JAC?

A quick search of the web says this is the longest acronym (56 letters), can anyone beat it.
