For me its seems an easy way of getting really huge code into my IDE. I am no longer required to select it carefully. So I think let it be as is for those who have it configured for others its not there anyway

Please dont take off the clipboard option...
It is good... we can simply use that option instead of carefully selecting the code part when we want to test .

"View plain" works for everyone, I'd imagine, and you can say "View Plain, Select All, Copy" which is not too hard. The question is, which is harder: the ongoing effort of explaining why this feature doesn't work for everyone, or the fe extra keystrokes listed?

Huhu... sorry, late by three days but happy that new year lights are still on and this thread is still late-st! :p

Actually i logged in twice but before i could hit submit, i would leave the window open, and walk off. It is only later i realized that the forum has not only become smart and beautiful but also intellligent now. It understands sessions and now doesnt give a damn (prompts relogin) when it knows i dont give a damn to it for long time... :P

Ernest, I was about to recommend to you for the "My Post" section but somewhere i read that it is already under review. If possible please make it exactly the same as we had earlier.
On main forum (and i think under search results) we have TimeStamps linked to the topic, which seems to be misguiding.

Under bookmarks page can we have a column with some eye.gif or so, to indicate that current bookmark is being watched or not. Currently I have three bookmars, two are under watch-list and one is not.

Nothing much for the moment, as I explore and find anything to be communicated, i shall do it. Thank you all... happy new year.

When I copy a code without using the copy to clip board option, then all the lines that are copied have a hash (#) before them. It is a pain to remove them. Also I tried to use a ASCII diagram like before into the code tags, but it got messed up. Let me try to make another similar ASCII diagram and see if it gets messed up or not

There is an easy way to copy code: Press "view plain", then select all/copy.

Thanks for pointing out about the ASCII diagrams -- I'll see what I can do!

Most of HTML is not supported. If you stick to the UBB tags that are accessible through the buttons you'll be fine. For pre-formatted content, CODE tags can be used.

For pre-formatted content, CODE tags can be used.

It looks like CODE tags don't work very well for some fixed text, like ASCII diagrams. I'm working on a simple solution for this.

Are you making the diagrams in the editor or are you making them in something else like notepad and pasting them in? The editor in this forum is NOT a fixed with font. The code in the code tags is a fixed width font. When I see your diagram I see something like 8 spaces too many which suggests you made the diagram in the editor.

I did uncover another bug with the code tags, running tests to figure out the cause.

can somebody tell me how to attach the files to the post and what kind of attachments does it take. Because i just tried to attach a file with .doc extension, .rtf, .mht nothing worked out. please give me a complete process. i know that for images i have to just insert the link for that image.

Well I read that you have solved the problem, but still to clarify, I didn't create the diagram in any text editor. I just typed it in the text area here. Earlier the box used to have fixed width font so the ASCII arts used to look same after posting. And I was more concerned about the Broken text in the ASCII art rather than the spaces. I wrote Integer and Number but the text was somehow truncated...

I've been experiencing some latency in the updating of the forum overview pages.
When I reply to a topic in a particular forum, and then return to that forum's topic overview, the 'new post indicator' and 'last post' information for the topic aren't updated.
I have to explicitly update the browser cache for the overview page in order to get a correctly updated view. Anyone else experiencing any cache related problems?

I have put one topic on my watch. Whenever there is any update on that topic I got an email and that's was I don't want. I didn't see any settings related to this but we have similar facility for private messages. So It isn't available or I missed it.

"Watch" means that you'll get an email when the topic is updated; that's what it does. If you don't want the email, don't watch the topic!

I think I missed the actual purpose of 'Watch'. I used it in little different way. I put watch on some posts for the future use as they are very informative and I don't want to spend time in searching. BTW this was not the case with our old software UBB.

No, that's what watches have always been for -- in fact, it's the same implementation, as watches weren't build into UBB, it's something we added.

Right next to the "Watch topic" button, there's a "Bookmark it" button. Bookmarking a topic adds it to the list you can see if you click "My Bookmarks" at the top of the page. Bookmarks is just a list of intesting topics, with no notification. It sounds like that's what you're after.

If you click on "My bookmarks" up top it will show everything that is either a bookmark or a UBB migrated watch. If you click on the thread from there, you will see a "stop watching" button. It will stay as a bookmark.

When are you comparing the traffic to? See the attached image which shows our traffic in # visitors. As you can see Christmas and New Years week were low as one could expect. The overall visitors were about the same this week as with a month ago. Which is a good thing since we change the software/URLs since then. It means redirects are working.

The beginner forum is heavily influenced by students and educational cycles. In the US, university semesters end in December and May. Semesters start in either January or February. Which means that for most students, the semester hasn't started yet or it is very early on and projects haven't started yet. So I would expect it to be somewhat quieter in there.

I haven't noticed any quiet in the forums I moderate (JDBC and Testing.) And looking at Java in General (beginner) has a whole page of posts from today alone.
