how to start career as a dba?

Hi All
After much thought, I want to enter the database industry and one of my dreams is to become a dba. I understand the responsibilities that come with it and i am really excited about learning oracle. I have a masters degree in computers with very little s/w experience. not much in database though..(probably 8months working with sql,pl/sql,triggers etc). Now i want to write ocp dba exam and start my career as a junior dba. Please can someone tell me how to jumpstart into the dba world..what prospects do i have in becoming a dba? I greatly appreciate your inputs

Hey Chitts ..

First things first - you can try to get a job as a Data Analyst or some such role and keep up with your database skills. Learn / rather Master Oracle alongside .... and take up the OCA exams to start with and help out a senior DBA in his/her work or closely follow what he/she does ... and then take the OCP and a job as a DBA ! Simple !
