I passed the exam 007 - Introduction to 9i SQL today with 75% score. I followed the book - Certification guide by Chip Dawes and Biju Thomas. After appearing for the exam, I feel that this book is insufficient for some topics. You can pass the exam, but cannot score high percentage beacuse some details are completely missing from the book. So probably combination of this book and Oracle User Guide would have been a better option.
Now going to the next exam - Pl/SQL.

Thanks Nick.

Buddhi,
I just followed the certification guide and referred the Oracle User Guide for the multi-row functions. I could pass the exam studying the book thoroughly twice. But I know now that I could never get 100% just using that book as some details are completely missing from the book. So I would recommend studying another book for SQL besides the certification guide. The exam doesn't expect you to go into too much detail but knowledge of all the basic SQL concepts is essential. I think any good book would help you achieve that.

Congratulations vibha..
I want to know how many practice exams did you solve before appearing for the exam. Are there any free exams available. The one offered by selftest is too costly $99 more that what one pays to appear for the exam..
thanks,
Trupti

Personally, I dont think there is a good book in the market. Each of the book covers several parts of the exam in details, but not other parts.
In fact, what you need should be the training materials from Oracle University. We call it Instructor-Led-Training (ILT) materials, you may buy those materials from Oracle University in a CD pack version. Some of the questions can even be found directly from the text of ILT.
Best luck for your exams.
Nick

Hi Trupti,
I did not buy any practice exam. I just tried the certification guide's 2 sample tests and flashcards. Also I took the mock exam from Saha's site, here is the link for the same.

It is entirely up to you, but I don't think you need to spend any amout to get the practice exam. If you have covered all the topics then you are pretty much ready for the actual exam.
