Oracle Login and Password

Hi guys,
I am in big time trouble.I have been given a machine in which Oracle 8 is installed andi do not have the login and password of Oracle in my machine. How do i go about it? Can someone help me in this regard ?

Did you try the default usernames/passwords? (sys/sys or scott/tiger)

I think John is referring to the operating system user, and not the database user. Unfortunately, John did not tell us what operating system is installed on his machine, so I can't really help him any further (unless he would care to provide some more details regarding his environment).

I still think it is about the Oracle user, but John can clarify that. If it is the OS user, there is almost nothing you can do.
