Is a license for Advanced security options required.

One of our clients is using an Oracle 9iR2 Standard Edition server. They are being required to use Oracle Advanced security features to connect to an external database through a database link.

1. Does a license for Oracle Advanced Security need to be acquired for the 9iR2 Server that is a client to this other database?

2. Can Oracle Advanced Security be added on to Standard edition or does the database need to be an Enterprise Edition install.

Don't get me started about those stupid light bulbs.
