hi all,

I have a problem with my oracle 8i installation. I have jdk1.4 with jre installed in my system.
The problem is as follows
- once i install the oracle 8i it works fine..
- when i restart the system. and try to login to the oracle query window.. it throws error saying ----- oracle not available----- or ---------- tns protocol adapter error-----

please let me know how to configure it .. i need to install tomcat also.. so if any one knows the solution for this.. please guide me.. I am using Windows Xp with service pack2
Thank you

You probably have to restart the service. Go to settings->control panel->administrative tools->services and start the oracle service. You can set it to start automatically each time you reboot the server.
