Problem importing the dump file to database

Hi all,

I have a dump file and i want to import it into my database.I am using the imp utility from the command line and it shows no error, but when i see the database there are no tables imported.I dont know what is tbe problem.plz tell me if i m doing something wrong.I need it urgently.plz help me asap.
