Text files comma delimited being treated as Oracle tables

I think this was a feature that was added in Oracle 9i or 10g

A similar feature I was able to find is here
http://www.hsqldb.org/doc/guide/index.html
But I am not able to find how to do this in Oracle database

Can someone please shed some light on this issue.

thanks

Sunil,
For Oracle 10g Release 2, refer to the Utilities volume of the documentation, which can be accessed from here:

http://www.oracle.com/pls/db102/portal.portal_db?selected=3

(You need to be a registered member of OTN, but registration is free.)

Look for Part III - External Tables

Alternatively, you could search the Ask Tom Web site for "external table".

Good Luck,
Avi.
