when using "@filename" command to run a sql script in sqlplus, where should you save the file ? and how does sqlplus locate the file ?

It will save it in your current directory for SQL+. The HO command will show you a prompt with the directory name. You can save anywhere you want by specifying a full path or by starting sql+ in a desired directory.
