How to configure Apache Web Server in my System?

Hi friends
good evening to all.
This is my 1 st message at java Ranch.
Actually i inspired by this type knowledge sharing .And here is my problem descrined below.
I have installed Apache WebServer in my System.Now i want to write few Servlets and JSP's. But for that the file named
httpd.conf
must be edited as mentioned in the READ ME file.
hence i request U to give me complete details regarding this.

To enable servlets and JSP's, you must have a servlet runner, which Apache Webserver is not.

You need to download Tomcat (which for ease of use, can also serve web pages).
