When I start tomcat, I get the following message but I do not get the dos prompt back for any other command nor does it launch any new DOS window ? Is this normal behavior ?
If so, where do I say shutdown ?
C:\tomcat\bin>startup

This is normal behaviour.

Open a new DOS window and type 'shutdown'. Better yet, there are shortcuts to these batch files that are placed in your start menu.
