hi, I have multiple tomcat engines running different web applications on one machine and they are both configured under one apache web server.
I seem to recall reading that tomcat needs to be started before starting apache and I was wondering how this would be possible if you have one web application running and apache is already running also. Does one let the developer of the second web application shutdown and startup apache or is there another way to "refresh" apache?

At the moment, you can't "refresh" Apache. If you stop any of the Tomcats, you need to restart Apache so it can connect to the new Tomcat(s).
Someday they hope to cure that.

thanks for the reply tim. How would a web host for servlets handle this then? Is each user given their own apache which they will have to restart manually each time they modify their servlets?
