Sorry that I am such an ignornat on this Tomcat and servlet stuff, but I am trying to learn. Anway, what folder in the Tomcat Directory do I put my servlets I create? I read that there should be a Servlet directory, but the only one created by default is in the examples folder. Can I just create one under my ROOT folder and put them in there? Or does it matter?

You need to place your servlets in WEB-INF/classes of a sub-folder of webapps.

In the webapps folder there is a folder called examples. I would recommend taking a look at the directory structure in it.
