When a servlet is removed by the container?

Is it removed only when the Tomcat shuts down?

i guess when there are no threads running on the servlet's service method. it's up to the server when the servlet will be timeouted and destroyed.
well, i guess it's the right answer, but u better check other opinions too

If the servlet have received some request since the last startup, yes, you should shut down tomcat to be sure your servlet is unloaded.
