'cannot determine local host name'

Hi,
I Installed the apache web server on a win2k machine but when
i try to run it i get the following output:
cannot determine local host name
use the servername directive to set it manually
what could be the possible causes and how can i fix it ?

Could it be that your system doesn't have a hosts file? My XP system has hosts in c:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\
