i'm trying to stop tomcat 4.1 (bin/ and getting the following error (unix sun machine)

i have one application which has its context path set in server xml (ie the app is not a folder from the tomcat ROOT directory), and am building another app which is created simply via putting the folder in the server root directory ie webapps/ROOT/library. there is also a search servlet - which i am trying to run from the webapps/ROOT/lbrary/WEB-INF directory (ie web.xml)

any ideas ?

You know, I had to come back to this. I passed it over with 'no idea'. But then I remembered we had this exact same error at work on our production box... whenever we shut down tomcat and restarted.

We could never figure out why, it never did any harm, and ... it went away when we jumped to 4.1.24 (from, I think, 4.1.18)

We're currently on 4.1.30, and no problems.

Are you able to upgrade? The other thing we did at the same time is jump to jdk 1.4.1 from 1.3.1.
