How to determine the tomcat uses which jdk version in its compilation?

My guess would be it uses whatever the value in JAVA_HOME is.

Since the system look in the PATH for the java.exe executable, it is the PATH that determines which JVM is started.
From any command prompt, type java -version you will get something like;
>java -version
java version "1.4.2_03"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.2_03-b02)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.2_03-b02, mixed mode)
I believe that JAVA_HOME is used to find certain library files, so if the path and JAVA_HOME do not agree, you could get weird errors. I know I did when it happened to me.
