Dear Experts,

I have been using Apache for quite some time now. Some times I get peculiar types of problems that I am often not able to resolve.

I was doing some lab preparation with Tomcat 5.0.24. it was working fine. but all on a sudden I started getting this error. I tried with another version Tomcat 5.0.28 and also 5.0.12 but all versions keep on giving the same error. I restarted my computer but I still get this error.

I am a demonstartor of a lab and often I face this problem with my Tomcat
servers. are this problems due to some mistake of mine? is there anything that I can do to correct this problem when it happens.
please know that most of the times Tomcats run fine, but about 25% time I get this problem. the error I get is the one below or something similar:
please Help me.

Have you checked the bug database at http://nagoya.apache.org/bugzilla/index.html
I has a weird problem with Tomcat 5.0.18 and security policy so I went back to Tomcat 4.1.30
before a bartender says anything, your name ss dd does not come anywhere near meeting the ranch name policy. I use my real name here, you can use yours.

Too late!

Seriously "ss dd", William is correct. There are a few rules that need to be followed, and one is that proper names are required. Please take a look at the JavaRanch Naming Policy and adjust your display name to match it.

In particular, your display name must be a first and a last name separated by a space character, and must not be obviously fictitious.

Thanks!

Sorry Mates, I did not notice the naming policy. I will change
it to my nickname immediately.

Thanks for the suggestion on the bugs database. would it help shifting to Tomcat version 4.XXX help me get rid of that weird problem.
My Tomcat was running fine for 10 minutes & all on a sudden it starting to give that error & it happened with atleast 15 machines outof 40 in my lab.

cheers

I would check my check my classpath to ensure that I'm not messing with the system classpath. Tomcat has to pick the servlet.jar ( or similar) from its own classpath, rather than yours.
Check the tomcat docs for the 'classloading' hierarchy.. its very well documented.
