I heard that latest version of
tomcat
can be started without using sun's jdk. Anybody have an idea of how to run the server without using jdk.

well, I guess you have to install any 1.4 JDK you can find, point JAVA_HOME to the root of the new
java
directory, and start tomcat (and Bob will be your uncle)
