How to change localhost with myAppliaction in the URL

Hi

I have changed the port to 80 from 8080, successfully, now what i want is that like instead of writting -:

http://localhost/abc , i will write-:

http://myApplication/abc , that what i want is in place of

writting "localhost" i have to write "myApplication" and it will work as like as it works normally with localhost.

Well i may be wrong.
but as far as my knowledge goes "localhost" or any other name denotes the servername, and hence it HAS to be the server name and nothing else. Should be either "localhost" or letz say "gaurav" if the server is named as "gaurav".

Anybody please correct me if i am wrong !
