I am using tomcat 5.5 for windows. I am trying to start security manager when tomcat is starting up.

The way I did is that:
c:\>$TOMCAT_HOME\bin\tomcat5 start -security

I cannot verify whether the security manger is up. Is there a way to verify this? (Actually I guess this may not be the right way to start the security manger) Can someone tell me how to do it?

The tomcat manual said that I need to start it like:
%CATALINA_HOME%\bin\catalina start -security.

But there is no executable called %CATALINA_HOME%\bin\catalina under the bin dir.

The script is named catalina.bat under Windows, and starting it with the "-security" flag is the right way to do it. The console output should then say something like "Using Security Manager".

Where is that .bat file?

I did not find any .bat file under any sub dirs of tomcat home.

By the way, I am using 5.5.9 of tomcat. Is there a specific version that has this .bat file?

They should be under the {tomcat install}/bin directory.

The way I did is that:
c:\>$TOMCAT_HOME\bin\tomcat5 start -security

I start Tomcat5.5.9 with security on using the startup.bat file.
startup -security

The -security flag gets carried over into catalina.bat automatically from startup.bat.
