Hi All,
I have experience writing Tomcat webApplications, but now have to write a new Tomcat webApp that will be connected to an Apache Application. I have been reading a lot about the integration of Apache w/ Tomcat and am confused about something.

The web app will run under Tomcat on Port 8080, the Apache app will have a hyperlink that will point to the Tomcat app (http://localhost:8080/myApp).

My question is this, I am reading in an Apache book a paragraph titled "troublesome double authentication". It states that trying to communicate authentication between an Apache App and a Tomcat app can be
"tricky and may not be worth the effort".
Anyone Agree, Disagree with this statement?

What I want to do is this, the apache web app will require authentication, when they click on the hyperlink, I would like to pass the state of the session to the Tomcat Application, the particulars of the session that I am interested in are what the userID is of the user who was authenticated, and also if the session of the Apache Application has not timed out.

Any good techniques to advise?
Thanks very much for any reply!
