Difference between localhost & same system ip address

Hi All,

I used tomcat server for my web application, i used server's IP address like http://192.168.0.62:8080/SampleApp/serach.jsp it is properly woking. but I used as localhost on server system as follows http://localhost:8080/ SampleApp/search.jsp and not properly as functionality wise. Any once clarify regarding difference between server ip address & server's local host.

I am expect the valuable reply.

are you sure the IP is the IP of local host? there should be no difference

sometimes you need to restart tomcat

when you request from 127.0.0.1 or localhost, the container sees the response coming from 127.0.0.1

when you request from 192.168.0.68 or your machine name, the container sees the response coming from 192.168.0.68

If there is any behaviour specific to localhost, this is the only thing I can see that would interfere

What exactly happens? Fails to find the server? Fails to find the application? Shows part of a page and stops? Redirects to Javaranch.com?

General "it doesn't work" statements are not very useful.
