Java Mail has had a steady trickle of questions over the last few years, and I guess the number is increasing but I'm still not quite sure there are enough to justify a whole new forum. What I would like to see is some form of "Other Java APIs" forum to act as an incubator for discussions on newly introduced or newly popular APIs or extensions. The current "Java in General" forums don't really do this job as they are often filled with "general" discussion (logically enough) rather than detailed questions and anwers about otherwise unsupported APIs. My sugestion would be that if a particular topic or API generates sufficent and sustained traffic, it can then get it's own forum, seeded with the existing discussions from "Other APIs". Comments?
Frank, If you want to spearhead a forum called "Other Java API's", go for it! As a sheriff, you have access to all the fixins and you know what is involved in incubating a new forum. As for other forums: I'm happy to give almost anything a try. The catch is that we need an experienced JavaRanch person to champion the new forum. This will take about ten hours a week for two to three weeks.
