Deleting old registered name

I have a username that I created before the Naming Policy was implemented. I tend to use the same username at various sites. I have occasionally come to the ranch and used the wrong, older name, because that is what I use at most other sites.
Is there any way to delete a username from the list of registered names?

I don't think deleting it will do much for you. You'll still try to put the old name in. Only the message will be "who?" instead of "that account isn't allowed to post"
I'm worried that if we delete accounts, it might screw something up like old threads that are saying who posted there.
