Hi, I tried to download JBoss AS, jboss-4.0.4.GA-Patch1-installer.jar. Extracted it but didn't find the bin directory. I'm following a tutorial at http://today.java.net/pub/a/today/2005/03/01/InstallingJBoss.html and then I'm stuck because no such directory exists in the Java archive... Did I download the wrong file? Thanks...

Thats the installer you downloaded. You could just run it, or you could download jboss-4.0.4.GA.zip which is JBossAS itself.

Yes, the installer is not the App Server, I suggest you download the zip file instead of using the installer.

I'm downloading the zip file now... But I tried the .gz file first... I tried to extract it (I'm using Ubuntu BTW) but then there is no bin directory? Why is that? And how do I install the jar file?(Just curious). Thanks!

Well, can you use a zip file on Linux like that, or do you need to always use the Linux installer and gz files?

Anyway, this is the link to the gz file from jboss.org.

It looks like there is also an MD5 and SHA-256 files for encryption, not sure if you must have those files too, but anyway. I am really surpirsed if you extracted the gz file that you didn't have a JBOSS_HOME/bin directory.
