Is there a difference between the way applications should be deployed on JBoss 3 and 4?

I am asking since I am trying to follow an EJB tutorial over JBoss 3.0.

The tutorial has been written for JBoss 3.0 but I am using jboss-4.0.5.GA.

I was wondering if this is the reason I am getting the following error while trying to use the bean in the jsp file:

No, there's no difference. The exception might have to do with something else.

22:26:51,854 WARN [ServiceController] Problem creating service jboss.j2ee:service=EjbModule,module=example.jarjavax.management.InstanceAlreadyExistsException: jboss.j2ee:jndiName=ejb/test/MyTestSessionBean,service=EJB already registered.

Looks like that EJB is already deployed or maybe you have more than one ejbs which have the same jndi name. Make sure the ejb-jar.xml and jboss.xml in the example.jar are correct. In case you have a hard time figuring out any issues with these files, then post the contents of those files and the application.xml

Yes I have noticed just after I sent this message......

So I removed both the previously deployed apps, and deployed only the new one.
I think I am getting the error on calculator.jsp, where it tries to use calc (is there a way I can verify from the logs where in calculator.jsp the problem is???)

The error message is:

Any idea someone?

Is there a way to figure out from that cryptic error message what the problem is?

See if there's more logs in the server.log file in %JBOSS_HOME%/server/default/log folder. If not then you might have to step through that code in the jsp line by line and maybe figure what the exception is.

Hi Jaikiran,

My developers are using 3 layer ejb structure (business, jpa, client). For this i am getting 2 JARs and one WAR file.

To deploy the application i am moving all these 3 (jars and war file) to $JBOSS_HOME/server/default/deploy.

It is working ok. Now my question is, is there any way to get single EAR file from all those three layers.

I want to deploy single EAR only. How can i get this?

Please help me out. Thanks in advance.

Sridhar.
