Can anyone reason out why staroffice is very slow to start comparing with msoffice

Hi Ram,
Well, MS Office has been out for longer, getting banged on by more users. And with MS office you're just starting one application, not the shell/container/whatever for all of MS office. That's how it is with StarOffice.
Add more RAM, shut down unnecessary applications, and let's hope version 6 is faster. ;>

Yep, I'm afraid SO is a hog. I've heard some people say that if the choose Tools > Options > General > View, and in the Logo field select "Don't Show", this disables the splash screen at startup and makes it load faster.
