GIS Software written in java

I am not sure if should be posting this question here.

I want to know if there are any software (open source or commercial) which can create a map using java,which I can incorporate in my web application.
I am looking for a software which can take co-ordinates(lat,long) as parameter and return a map as per those co-ordinates.

I know it is do-able but I just need the right direction.

A open source link: Java GIS, I've tried Open Map - looks ok.

Both the leading (UK) GIS products provide Java support; ERSIERSI MapObjects and MapInfo

MapInfo is not a free software. I have tried GeoMap. I need to provide a datafile of co-ordinates which I am not sure how to do it.
I also downloaded GeoTools. It has lots of jar files. I am not sure how should I be proceeding after that.

Is there anyone who has used GeoTools and can guide me a little bit?

And ERSI ArcView is not free either. You may find that the maps and data is also not free. In the UK, the OS put a lot of effort into maintaining maps - they are not going to give it away free.
