Hello all,

I want my application at run time to get data from an excel sheet and process this data.
Do you have any ideas of how to do this using servlets.
one idea would be to bring the data to a MySQL database but I don't know how to do this .

CAn anyone help. -- please move the question to the appropriate forum is you see that it does not fit here.

Regards,

You can create an ODBC datasource or use JDBC drivers for Excel (such as xlSQL) and that's it.

Yes you can.

You can use standard MS ODBC Drivers if your is a Windows environment or xSQL drivers here: https://xlsql.dev.java.net/ or here: http://jakarta.apache.org/poi/index.html

thank you.
While you were answring my question I did some research and I found it easy to use JEXCEL API.
very straigh-forward.

do you see any problem with it ?

I think I know what the problem is, using JEXCEL API you cannot do queries (something like select only rows with average > 3)as you can with xlsql.

is this correct?

Well there is some methods that enables you to search like : sheet.findCell(string);

and them cell.getColumn() or cell.getRow();

What do you think of that ?

Not much to do with servlets, so moved to the Other Java Products forum.
