Hi Folks,

I am required to make an installer for a web application. It needs to be like the WAMP installer only i require JBoss,Sql Server and Jsp(Java) to be as the environment.

I am a newbie in this arena. Could any one point to any documentation/online help that i can read and try out a few examples.

I googled and NSIS seemed like a useful free tool. Can anyone suggest/any other tool or approach.

Thanks !

As far as I can say there is no WAMP like installer in java world. however you may try to get NetBeans IDE, it come with
- A very good IDE to develop JSP/ JSF pages
- An application server capable of running those pages.
- Pre-Configured database which is available both in IDE for development and application server for your test.

Thanks for the links.

I use Eclipse IDE with Jboss plugin.

Another question though, what is the best way of delivery of a web application to a customer ?

Is it the following steps:
--Installing Java, DB server, Application Sever
-- Deployment of the WAR file

Is there any other way of doing this?

That could be the simplest possible way of delivering your application. However you might be able to use embedded database or you can create a mega bundle installer which install and configure all components.
For example izpack at http://izpack.org/ can be used to create installer for OpenJDK, Servlet container, DB?,... It has ANT integration which really ease java related installation/ configuration operation which have an ant task already in place.

Hope it helps.
