Senior
Java Engineers are responsible for assisting the Application Architect
to design the object model and database schema for web application projects.
During the development phase, Senior Java Engineers act as development leads,
making sure that the implementation is correctly and efficiently implemented.
Whereas the Application Architect is concerned primarily with the big picture
(making sure the application is feature complete), the Senior Java Engineer
is concerned with the detail implementations that ultimately determine the
robustness and performance of the site.
Senior Java Engineers must have excellent general knowledge of many
server side technologies, but will be encouraged to work on projects that
deepen their knowledge in a particular area.
Qualifications:
* 4+ years experience in commercial software development
* 2+ years of Java development experience
* Expertise in HTTP, CGI, and
Servlet API
* Excellent understanding of
JDBC and SQL
* Experience with at least one Java application server
* Excellent NT and Solaris skills
* Experience using version control systems
* Experience working in team development environments
Responsibilities:
* Functioning as the internal development lead on web application projects
* Carrying out code reviews throughout the development cycle
* Assisting the Applications Architect to develop technical specifications,
object models, and database schemas for projects as needed
* Researching technologies under consideration for projects as needed, and
presenting findings to the Technical Services Group
