Good Core Java designing book?

Hi ,

I am a core java developer , and comfortable in core java , UML.

Currently I am looking for some good core java designing book with uml.

My Problem is there are lots of good designing books available for designing J2EE applications , but I couldn�t find a single book which tells me how to design Core java application , which factors to be considered while designing the application , which design patterns can be used , which should be avoided in some scenarios , etc etc.

Any suggestions will be very Helpful.
