I don't know where to post this, but hoped Kathy and Bert would see it. I recently visited Dick Baldwin's site just to see what was new. <http://www.dickbaldwin.com/>. As you all know, Baldwin has had a massive set of Java Tutorials available online for free, and I believe he is well respected within the Java community. So, please read his message on his main page.

I have been a member of the JavaRanch as well as the E-PorkChop for a very long time, although not the most vocal member. Of course the Ranch helped me to get certified, but it was Baldwin's tutorials that really made it happen for me. I guess its because I'm not one to read Deitel or Eckel cover to cover, but short stories hold my attention long enough to get through them. I'd rather read a couple of paragraphs, then try some code.

Again, check out http://www.dickbaldwin.com/

Good call Glenn, I had read that page and am about to write a letter but I foolishly did not think of posting here. Check out the link folks.

I got an email about Baldwin's situation and was about to post a link here too.

Write a letter. Help a teacher.

I went through a couple of his online tutorials a couple years back and found them to be really helpful. Gotta go find some stamps.

For those that didn't click, the very short version:

Richard Baldwin has been teaching for a decade. Back then, he didn't have to take 18 hours of courses required for his credential: an exception was made for him based on his industry experience. Now it's been revoked and he's being asked to take those hours again. If he can demonstrate that he has a reputation in the field, his exception might be reinstated. For that, he's asking for letters.
