The folks over at Head First Labs have put up a great page that explains the ideas behind the Head First book series. It's a great resource and applies to any learning situation, not just learning books.

I've downloaded the book.
Looks fun to read.
I hope I learn lots.
But the book advises me to join this forum.
Whether I go into trouble, or not..
Cool!

Hi Naz, welcome to JavaRanch.

As far as getting into trouble goes, you'll be fine if you follow the few rules we got: be nice, and use a proper display name.

Uh oh. Looks like you need to change your display name to comply with our famous naming policy. Please take a minute to do that here.

Thanks, and hope you enjoy your time at the ranch!
Pauline

Definitely fun to read. Which one are you working on?

Hi,

I have changed my display name (Jake Maruk).
Next, I got a pm on where I downloaded the book, but when I tried to reply, a message informs me that the inbox of the sender is currently full.

Uh, since the message is private, I shan't be answering it here!
Did I just break another rule?

Thanks!
